Towards a generic analytical model of wormhole routing networks

چکیده

We study the problem of predicting the performance of wormhole routed networks. A model of a single wormhole router is developed, and unlike previous methods we do the development by a probability analysis rather than queuing theory. The model is evaluated through a series of it level simulations. Then we indicate how our model can be extended to networks of routers, and argue that this extension will be executable for any wormhole routed networks whose routing algorithm is free from deadlocks.

A Secure Routing Algorithm for Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks

Recently, underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) attracted the interest of many researchers and the past three decades have held the rapid progress of underwater acoustic communication. One of the major problems in UWSNs is how to transfer data from the mobile node to the base stations and choosing the optimized route for data transmission. Secure routing in UWSNs is necessary for packet d...

A two-phase wormhole attack detection scheme in MANETs

Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) have no fixed infrastructure, so all network operations such as routing and packet forwarding are done by the nodes themselves. However, almost all common existing routing protocols basically focus on performance measures regardless of security issues. Since these protocols consider all nodes to be trustworthy, they are prone to serious security threats. Wormhole...

A Comprehensive Analytical Model for Wormhole Routng in Multicomputer Systems

An analytical model for obtaining performance measures in multicomputer networks which use wormhole routing is presented. Unlike previous wormhole routing models, the model introduced in this paper is accurate and quite simple. The model is validated through it-level simulation experiments and is suuciently general to be extended for several networks, including k-ary n-cubes, and related routin...

An Improved Analytical Model for Wormhole Routed Networks with Application to Butterfly Fat-Trees

A performance model for wormhole routed interconnection networks is presented and applied to the butterfly fat-tree network. Experimental results agree very closely over a wide range of load rate. Novel aspects of the model, leading to accurate and simple performance predictions, include (1) use of multiple-server queues, and (2) a general method of correcting queuing results based on Poisson a...

Performance Modelling of Wormhole Switching in Two-Dimensional Torus with Finite Buffers

Over the recent years, a great deal of effort has been devoted towards the development of analytical models for wormhole-routed networks. However, most of these models employ routers with negligible flit buffers. As a consequence, they do not adequately capture the performance behaviour of actual routers, which are often equipped with extended buffers which can hold more than one message flit. ...
